A big industry after the worldwar was the export of products like cotton, carnauba wax and xelita. Other major wealth builders were textile industry and civil building.
Since the latest decades tourism is the major source of income for the city. Because of the good climate with sunshine all the year around, and the cool refreshing breeze from the Atlantic it´s easy to understand why the people feel good in Natal. The urbanization of Natal didn´t went as fast as in other cities in Brasil, maybe that´s why Natal today is cool but at the same time a modern city. Another big industry now is real estate, the city is groowing like never before.
